Painting on the Island of Rügen at the Castle Hotel Ralswiek September 09th to September 16th 2008
Having arrived on the island of Rügen we were welcomed by a precious ambience in Ralswiek. Embedded in a large park the castle was situated on a wonderful hill with an astonishing view on the spacious Jasmunder Bodden. After an excellent meal we got to know each other as a painting group; this happened pretty fast.
The next day we met at 10:00 o ´clock in the castle garden with main focus on acryl colours and pastell chalk. We worked with given motifs from a book and post cards. The following day we made a trip to Pakig. Here the group tried out to paint under an open sky. Our course instructor Martin Ludwig gave some of the participants a helping hand. A tour to Lietzow was next, where the participants tested their skills in watercolour painting after lunch. We painted „view with rock and water“.
On Friday we stayed at the hotel for painting, as there were some rain showers.
There the rooms were very pleasant, high rooms, a lot of light and much space.
Everybody searched for motifs that pleased him or her. Mr Ludwig here also showed his angel-like patience and helped everybody with his or her paintings.Saturday was „paint free“.
Some participants made a day trip by boat to the island of Hiddensee.
On Sunday we painted at the open sea shore. Waves and foam with a light house in Neumuksau. The last day we spent painting at the hotel. We finished our paintings and finally a last meeting took place where talked intensively about our results. Mr Ludwig was very content with us and slowly but surely pride cropped up over our achievements.
Many thanks, we learnt a lot!
